Yes, but produced by our Distributor in Japan 'Sleek Elite'. These are totally handmade in Japan and the price reflects that. Some of the wood, neck billets and parts are supplied by us. I just shipped more wood and circuits for them a few days ago over to Hajime in Japan.

Thank you for the info.
I just heard about Hadrien a couple of weeks ago. And now this! Great bassplayer and another great bass with the Smith name on it! Inspiring...

Do you guys like the finger ramp? I have never used one and it looks unnecessary.

Why do you think he uses a ramp?

I just sold them a bunch or 18v units, the same we put in our basses. I think it's save to assume they will be using that unit in these basses. Hajime or Sleek Elite in Japan is producing them. Maybe some of these questions should be directed at him, you think? He is a member here so why not get the info straight from the source?

Funny thing I just noticed. On the Member List under 'H' (http://www.smithbassforums.com/memberlist.php?ltr=H&pp=100&sort=username&order=asc), Hajime's name (http://www.smithbassforums.com/member.php?u=76) is right after Hadrien's..

Ken,

1- will this bass have the same neck specifications of a 5 strings Burner from '90?
2- What about price?
3- What kind of wood on top and body?
4- What about a four strings?

These questions are 'cause I'm a Burner fan :D. It's a very rare bird in Brazil maybe a new...

Thanks.

I don't know when these will be available here in USA or even WHO will be selling them. I will look at the prices and see if it's something we want to handle directly here in USA. I think these will be quite expensive. At lease twice the price or the old Burner Artist model but then again, we haven't made those for about 15 years either. Double price seems about right given the 15 year difference and the added features the Burner Artist didn't have.

Smith-heads (smile),

What's the latest on the Signature Bass? Does any one have leads?
I have not found any responses from Hajime of the Sleek-Elite.

Interesting smith bass - with narrow-spacing? 16mm or something like that?

18v preamp - with 5 knobs.

Like everyone else, I wonder what the price will be? I own two smith basses (BMT 6 & MD7) - so I am good for now.

You never know when GAS will get you ;)

Yes, string spacing is more narrow and that works well with Hadrian's playing style. Nice looking bass. Out of curiosity, I would like to hear that same bass with Ken's Soapbar P/U's installed with the Smith 3-Band Pre-amp (not sure what Pre-amp is in this model, however, it does appear to be a 3-Band of some type). :)

They buy the circuits from us. Same Preamp as in all of the current Smith basses.

I think we should recognize the mastermind of Gary Willis who invented the finger ramp for his own style and esquisite technique. I used it for fretless playing and it's a real plus.
These days the finger ramp is kind of generic accessoire and it is used in many cases just for the hype.
The funny (or sad) thing is that this ramp (which is a little piece of wood between pickups or betweem central pickup and the neck) is proposed by a NY bass company, at only 399$ !!! - They really think bass players are stupid...
