Which style of music do you guys/gals use your Ken Smith basses for?

I play mostly Hard/Progressive Rock and Heavy Metal.

I'm kinda odd in those genres in that my Smith BSR4EG is fretless.

R&B, Funk and Rock are my primary styles but I stay open minded about anything. If somebody is willing to pay me, I'll play almost anything.

I play Gospel exclusively, but as you all know todays Gospel has a big R&B influence. The majority of the bass players in the Gospel circuit play 5 string "Smith" basses.

My history and influences are extensive: I've played just about any style out there (mainly R&B and Funk). Currently I help lead Praise & Worship at my Church and/or wherever I am needed.

Up until last week, I was playing neo soul in a 12 singer band. However our Musical Director (and the guy who put the band together) threw the towel in suddenly (without any warning) and the band seems to have disintegrated over the course of a week because of a lack of rehearsal space and uncertainty.

Interestingly enough there have a few opportunities that have come up out of this confusion with some of the singers own side projects, but I haven't had a chance to pursue them yet.

Steve, simply take this time out as a means to figure out exactly what and which direction you wish to pursue next. Playing is always the ultimate goal, but playing and giging in a group, ensemble, band that you really can groove with is paramount.

Thrash, prog. and death metal. Used to play blues, jazz, funk and a short stint playing reggae. Could never quite get the hang of reggae, though. Tough in it's simplicity.
