Here are some pics and measurements of this beautiful Prague bass. After researching this bass, the maker Jan Bina (http://www.kensmithbasses.com/doublebasses/bina/) and his history as well as seeing several pictures of his basses, we are attributing this bass to him. I have discussed this with other dealers in USA and Central Europe who also agree on its possibility.

String Length; 40 5/8" (modified)
Top/Back Length; 42 3/4" top, 44" back
Upper Bout; 20 1/2"
Middle Bout; 15"
Lower Bout; 25 1/2"
Ribs; 7 3/4", 6 1/4" at neck

BINA, Johann Nepomuk Born 1826, died 1897 Prague Czech Republic. Pupil of F. Lehner. In his early years he worked for several makers in Austria and Hungary. Bina settled in Prague from 1853. Professional work typical of the Prague school. Double basses were his specialty, Viol form in the Viennese style. Much of his production was sold to Russia.
