I just received a spam PM from "Stephanie". I couldn't find anyway to notify the admin so . . .

Also, if I remember correctly, when we signed up for this forum our real names were required and now I see "Stephanie" has joined and there are a few others that I've noticed. Has this rule changed?

Thanks,

Fred

The funny thing is she seems to be preaching pretty desperately to the choir. Who would be compelled to either aggressively market or argue against Buddhism?

Sort of like mounting a major campaign to mandate breathing. Perhaps the most curious spam I have gotten yet. :o

Yep...same here.

This message isn't just restricted to this forum. I've already had the same one through the Volvo Owner's Club forum in the UK (which uses the same system as this). "Stephanie's" location was given as Scotland, so I figured it was legit. Anyway, the website in the PM is pretty good. Glad no-one has taken offence. I must admit, I did think for a minute that I had a crazy online stalker ;)

I just noticed that she's currently on and searching member profiles.:(

Who can argue with Albert Einstein?

Whatever. Watch out for Buddhist viruses and don't click the link.

Yes, I am aware. Mike will block and Ban her later today when he gets back. So far, it's just a spam message. Ignore it, delete it and do NOT respond to it. She joined up here last week. I am not even sure if it's a real person so just ignore it for now.

Too late. I responded and clicked the link. We have struck up a relationship and I'll be getting my headshaved and measured for sheets after dinner on Sunday. I have to start learning my chants. :D

Well for one thing, she has brought us all together. I have never seen so many people logged in at the same time. Perhaps things will quite down amongst us once I've blocked and banned her.

Stephanie is banned, pretty sure that should eliminate any PMs ever sent by that account so even if you haven't gotten to it, it shouldn't still be in your inbox. Because this was an attack on the forum system, I do not recommend anyone check that site in the PM as it could lead to some form of malware. If you still have a message in your inbox, just delete it, and forget it :)

Thanks for everyones cooperation.

True. I hadn't been here in quite some time.

I was wondering what that was all about. Glad to see it has been taken care of.

I really couldn't see the connection between Ken's Corner and Zen's Corner, beyond the obvious rhyme. Might make a good title for a book, I s'pose..."Zen and the Art of Double Bass Repair". Nah--too trite.
