What do you do with your old strings? When I was in High School I used to stuff them into 2 liter soda bottles.

This thing is pretty heavy...

Guess the weight?

(most of the strings are smiths... there are a few sets that were on a jazz and p-bass)

Mine wind up on my basement floors or the trash. They get plenty of use before they get there though. I cycle my strings down the chain from most played bass to least.. My new 4 string sets of Smith compressors go on my Smith, then move to my ibanez, then my Lotus. My 5 string sets of Smith compressors go on my Brice 5 string fretless (I can't wait to retire this thing in favor of a Smith 5 string fretless) and then to my Dean Edge 5.

well that makes perfect sence!

when i was playing more, i used a set of string for a week, boiled the, used them for another week then they got stuffed in the bottle...

now a days, once they go dead i trash them...

luckly, i dont really sweat when i play so the strings stay fairly fresh

I get dramatically more life out of mine.. I change strings about once every 6 months or so. I've gone a year before they were dead enough to care.
