About Me
- About David Alan McIntire II
- Musical Background
- Been playin electric bass since 14, earnin cash from it for 30 or 35 years. Workin stiff. Bars and clubs everywhere. No formal trainin, cept school of hard knocks. Learned to read/write on own, figured was my responsibility. Play 4 to 6 nights a week for pay, much as I can on own time for free.
- Location
- St. George, SC.
- Additional Information
- No musical prejudices, I'll play anythin, anywhere, any time. First instrument was a jug in my family's backyard bluegrass band. Went through piano, trombone, drums and others fore settlin on electric bass. Was only instrument was any good at. Started out a metal head, influences bein JPJ, Steve Harris, Geddy, Mike Anthony. Went from there to likes of Jaco, Stanley, Will Lee, Chuck Rainey. Chuck and John Myung reasons went to extended range basses. Saw video for Dream Theater's song "Lie", had to have Low B, played a Chuck Rainey 6 in a store long ago, finally found one I could get my hands on, been playin it ever since. I play heavy music when on my own, but still have yet to hear a piece of music I don't love. Classical to Dub, electronica to roots, I'll find somethin to love and teach me. I play in tons of bands, all different. Gotta represent styles accurately, while addin my own voice. I LOVE my job!
- Your Gear
- Along with the aforementioned CR-6, I play an American Deluxe Jazz V, a '62 re-issue fretless Jazz (an '89 American made re-issue) and a fretless Carvin 5 string w/piezo system. All through a Mesa M-Pulse 600 and Bergantino HT-310 cabinet. For louder shows, have SWR GoliathIII 2 and 4x10 cabs. For recordin or as 2nd channel for effects onstage use a really old SWR RedHead combo.
- Why you joined Ken's Corner
- Wrote Ken, sorry, MR. Smith other day about a stripped truss rod nut on my CR-6. got to lookin around the sight, found the forums, visited a few and decided to join. I enjoy talkin lots bout bass, gear, philosophy, etc., I liked the layout and seeming lack of silly I've found on other forums, of whi
