hi chris , lovely looking bass you have , you are very lucky to own it , good basses like this are hard to come by in Australia.
i think you are correct about it being a Jacquet bass.
have a look at this bass here ,
http://www.stringemporium.com/basscafe.htm , this is very similar to yours . Jacquet family was prolific in bass making , the father , sons , cousins etc.
i have a real soft spot for french basses , i own two , and i have many photos of basses i have accumulated from the web . i have also read extensively on french basse and the makers .
can i ask where you are located ?
i see you have the pirastro flat-chrome on it , these are lovely strings , although i find the E and A to be a bit dull on my basses , i currently am using thomastic belcanto on e and a , great i find .
