About Me

  • About Anton Johannes
    Musical Background
An experimental approach to roots music is what I do. Gigging and recording with danish bands playing original music.

Have learned the tradition by playing with salsa, klezmer, folk/blues and scandinavian folk groups.

Have participated musically in modern musical productions and dance performances.

Educated as music teacher (doublebass, ensemble, percussion, dance) at the Royal Academy of Music in Århus (92-96).
    Location
    Århus, Denmark
    Additional Information
Much experience amplifying the double-bass for arco and pizz. Use an assortment of pick-ups for different purposes. Favorites are Barcus-Berry and Schertler. While touring with a techno band I would use a Wilson + gut strings.

Have been enjoying gut-strings for 10 years - if they would just stay in tune... Checking out hybrid strings.
    Your Gear
German flatback double-bass unknown maker (1950s?). The bass has a high bridge and therefore works best with low-tension strings. I use gut strings or Correlli.

+ Ampeg Baby-bass. Several electric basses: Fender, Hofner, Gibson...

Amplifyers from Acoustic Image, Reussenzehn and EBS.
    Why you joined Ken's Corner
Enjoyed reading about the EVAH PIRAZZI weich, which I wish to test on my bass.
