About Me

  • About Ron Lacey
    Musical Background
Started in elementary school on trombone and played that up through my first year of college. I was decent but not good enough or crazy enough to go pro. I picked up guitar when I was 13 and have added mandolin, electric bass, banjo, and my favorite - double bass - over the years. Today, I'd classify myself as a crappy guitar player, tolerable on banjo or mandolin, ok on electric bass and aspiring on double bass. Most recently, I've only played electric and double bass in public.
    Location
    Aggieland, Texas
    Additional Information
I have pretty broad musical tastes. Jazz is my favorite genre but out here in the sticks, I make do and play anything - bluegrass, country, church music - really, almost anything.
    Your Gear
Hybrid eastern European double bass from Upton. A nice Korean made MTD 4 string. Some other electric basses I need to sell and miscellaneous other stuff (banjo, mandolin, guitars, amps). None of it is collectible but all of it is serviceable.
    Why you joined Ken's Corner
Followed Ken over from Talkbass. I appreciate his expertise and enjoy the much higher signal to noise ratio over here.
