About Me
- About Timo Metzemakers
- Musical Background
- I got my first electric bass and started playing quite late in life, in 1988. Got my first double bass in 1993 and sold my slab soon after. I quit my day job in 2003 and I'm now enjoying the luxury of being a full-time bass player.
I'm now freelancing southwestern France. My own band is called Grand Six (jazz originals). I also play with the following people: Bordeaux Big Band (60's big band repertoire), Yes Igor (wacky stuff), Riverboat Jazz Band (modern New Orleans jazz), l'Orchestre du Dimanche (old-time dance music played on acoustic instruments), Isabelle Drault quartet (french vocalist), Yoann Loustalot, Didier Ottaviani, Alex Golino... - Location
- Bordeaux, France
- Additional Information
- I'm a jazz player, but I practice with the bow. I love lots of music, but Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus are especially important to me.
- Your Gear
- New Standard Cleveland with gut strings, Kremona (Bulgarian) carved bass from Bob Gollihur, Augagneur & Bergeron french bow, Chinese (Yita Music) german bow.
I use a C-441 mic that I send to the PA, and a Revolution Solo pickup that I plug into a Markbass combo. - Why you joined Ken's Corner
- I became a member because of the appalling events on talkbass.com.
