    Musical Background
    grew up playing jazz, classical. believe to have been first marching Fender bass player- 1957. First Canned Heat bass player, second Kaleidoscope bass player. Studied Greek/Balkan music in college. Played variety of instruments in folkdance companies and ethnic nightclubs, LA area; Blues, Rock, Armenian, Greek, Persian, Russian, Romanian, Hungarian, Irish, Israeli, South African, etc. bands.

    Played gadulka in first American band to play Bulgarian music on traditional instruments. Influential klezmer bass player/teacher since mid-70s. Tour with Brave Old World and Verstski Pass, important klezmer bands.

    Modern Chinese-made cornerless cello, strung a fourth low, in fifths, GDAE, steel. etc.
