About Me
- About Jez Gray
- Musical Background
- Head of Music at Christ the King College on the Isle of Wight since Apr 2009. Lived in Australia before that... On double bass I play jazz, mostly with a manouche/ django style swing guitar band, but do lots of other jazz gigs, folk, chamber pop, a real mixture really but not as much orchestral/ classical music these days as when I studied at Goldsmith's College for my degree about 20 years ago. Also I compose and arrange music, and alongside the double bass I play fretless bass guitar, keyboards, violin, viola, mandolin, guitar, saz, flute, saxophone and percussion.
- Location
- Isle of Wight, UK
- Additional Information
- Love living here on the island! It's full of great musicians, with an incredible diverse range of stuff going on. I just wish the music service was in a better position to deliver classical music training to all the island's kids, not just the ones whose families can afford it... Similar story for many local authorities though I guess.
- Your Gear
- I play currently a Stentor 1950 that I was given with a busted headstock - it has a self adapted piezo p/u fitted under the E/A leg of the bridge, and my own set up including Evah Pirazzi Weichs, string height and fingerboard adjusted for playability, sound post adjusted to preference and a home made dyneema tailgut added.
- Why you joined Ken's Corner
- Found your site randomly online and am always on the search for double players' communities and forums.
