About Me
- About Ronson Hall
- Musical Background
- I've been a lover of the Bass for 35 years. I started playing in high school, right after great success with the tuba! I love Gospel & Jazz, and I play for our Praise Team every Sunday, right before I preach. I've had the opportunity to accompany some notable musicians as they've come through the Alamo City: Tramaine Hawkins, Jesse Dixon, and Cynthia Clawson to name a few.
One of the most exciting experiences in my musical life was the opportunity to play bass in a stage production here in San Antonio with a fantastic pianist named Farrid Barron. He was doing a stint in the Air Force Band (Lackland AFB), and had just finished up doing some great stuff with Wynton Marsalis. He taught me much in just a week! - Location
- San Antonio, Texas
- Additional Information
- I've been looking forward to owning a Ken Smith Bass for about 10 years now, and it's finally happened!
- Your Gear
- I currently own a Ken Smith BSR5 w/Cocobolo top & bottom and, Tiger Maple core, an Ibanez bubinga/maple 5-string with Bartolini pickups; a Yamaha TRB-6; a 1968 Fender Precision with DiMarzio pickups and a Leo Quan bridge.
I play through a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 210T or an Eden WT400 Traveler Plus and a SWR Goliath III on Sundays. When I travel with the TLCF Praise Team, I grab my Eden head and bring my Carvin 210 cab. If it's a small room, I then opt for my Nemesis 110 (200 watt) Combo amp. I don't have a lot of stuff, but it gets me through, and I'm blessed! - Why you joined Ken's Corner
- I've been a great admirer of this luthier for many years, and enjoy communicating with folks who share my sentiments!
