- Musical Background
- Manufacturer of Ken Smith Basses but also back part time playing Double Bass in Local Symphony Orchestras (and other Gigs as well including a Smith Bass as needed) using one of the Basses from my personal collection; http://www.kensmithbasses.com/doublebasses
I Retired in 1988 after playing both Electric Bass and Double Bass in & around NYC for 20 years as well as some traveling in my earlier days. I did mostly studio work from 1975 and curtailed most travel. I taught about 450 Students privately on both Electric Bass and Double Bass from about 1974-1986 but retired from that as well. In 1978 I started Ken Smith Basses,Ltd. and continued to play as the Business grew. Now I'm back working the Bow in a few local Symphony Orchestras and a few other Gigs as time allows. - Location

- Your Gear
- Currently I am using three basses, a rare "Italian" bass with one piece ribs w/outside scalloped corner blocks, "Scallopini", a French bass by Paul Mangenot c.1890 and a mint condition Hofner German bass c.1958. I also have a beautiful and rare J&A Gagliano in restoration and will use that when completed. My two bows are L.Morizot c.1930 stamped E.Sartory A Paris & and a Vigneron model by Emilo Slaviero of Cremona c.1990.
For Electric work (which is rare for me these days) I have a '91 Burner Custom 4-string that I take out when needed. - Why you joined Ken's Corner
