    Additional Information
I travelled through Britain and Europe for a year in 1971 when I was 17. I worked at a youth hostel at 44 Drury Lane in London for about six months. My 1st day in London I saw "Mott the Hoople" play a Matinee (Day) gig at the Lyceum. A girlfriend managed a rehearsal hall in Covent Garden. I saw Manfred Mann's Earth Band and Hawkwind rehearse there frequently. I also met Jeff Beck there and jammed with him (for about ten minutes). I had my 65 Fender Jazz Bass, all I owned besides a backpack full of clothes and a horrid acoustic guitar, a gift from a girl I lived with for three months in France. Jeff was rehearsing his band with Clive Chaman-60's era Precision Bass, Max Middleton-Piano, Bob Tench,-Vocals and Cozy Powell on drums. Soon after, the "Jeff Beck Band" released his album "Rough and Ready"
I also met John Lennon and Yoko Ono at a peaceful protest march and sit-in demonstration against G.B.s occupation of Northern Ireland. John had a bull horn and led the marchers in a LOOONG version of his song, "Power to the people." I sat next to Yoko and John in front of Ulster House while John was interviewed and videotaped/photographed by the press.(If anyone knows where I can find any video footage or photo, please email me! <dadzbluz@gmail.com> As I knew John had no bass player at the time and I almost asked for an audition, but alas, after the sit-in, John & Yoko jumped into their Limo and drove away. I also saw THE WHO at Wembley Stadium, Jack Bruce Band at a pub with an audience of about 3o, Grand Funk's FREE CONCERT in Hyde Park(WAY LOUD!!!) with about 300,000 people, where I ran into four friends from Palo Alto, CA. Small world! Etc... Ad Infinitum. It was a very good year!
Over the next 13 years I was a professional musician. This meant I usually was living with a woman that had a house and a job, or in my '55 Divco MilkTruck, converted into a camper, or my 1941 Plymouth with a twin matress going into the trunk. Then I fell in love, got married, had a coup
    Your Gear
A slew of 50s and 60s Fender Basses. My brother has the '65 Jazz Bass.
I have a 1957 P-Bass with a '56 (Telecaster style headstock) neck . It was stansdard practice to use up the old stock parts before the new. It is refinished red and has EMG active p-bass style pickups with a 9 volt preamp. I am going to send it to the Custom shop and refinish it in the original two-burst and put 57 re-issue pickups in with the correct re-issue pickguard. Mine is cracked at the input jack. My favorite is a cherry red 1966 Jazz Bass in excellent all original condition with only a few small scratches and very litlle fret or neck wear. I also have a 60's era fretless Jazz that is refinished psychedelic (Bad acid trip) I got this, as well as the 57 and 66 at a Pawn Shop I was working at.When the guy pawned it, I aaked him why he sanded the Fender logo off of the headstock and he said, "I don't advertise for big corporations, Man." Yes, he also painted it. When he failed to reclaim it, I bought it for 100 bucks. I traded a Ruger .22 Standard auto pistol with a Leupold scope (App. $250.00 value) for the '57 P-Bass with original case in mint condition and a 1966 "Supro Val Trol" guitar with original case. I saw an identical guitar go for $10,000 on Ebay. (It can pay to work part-time at a pawn shop if you collect instruments!!!) I had a Travis Bean aluminum neck bass Serial #869 (Stolen in 1992, CA$H reward for info of it's whereabouts!) I am looking to buy a used Ken Smith BSR5EG or BSR6EG (or both) in pristine shape.
    Why you joined Ken's Corner
I have been in love with the Bass Guitar since I first saw Paul McCartney playing live with the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan TV Show when I was 10.
After scoring 100 % on a "Tone test" at the end of third grade, I played first chair trombone for the next two years in the school band. Trombone is in
