- Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Wagner Trindade has enjoyed a varied career as an educator, electric bass and guitar performer, composer and arranger. As a performer in the United States, Brazil and Saint Lucia he has played alongside several artists including Lizz Wright, Allen Toussaint, Nancy King, Lynn Anderson, Ronald “Boo” Hinkson (Saint Lucia), Arturo Tappin (Barbados), Dennis Rollins (UK), Miguel Siso (Venezuela), Carlos “Nene” Quintero (Venezuela), Lorena Guillén, Alejandro Rutty (Argentina), Cláudio Nucci (Brazil), and Armando Marçal (Brazil). Wagner Trindade founded the Brazilian Jazz Trio, “Dialeto Brasileiro”, winning the Brazilian National prize for Best Instrumental Ensemble from Cascavel Jazz Festival. The trio’s recording, “No Caminho”, features nine of Wagner’s original compositions. With a passion for music education, Wagner has taught masterclasses, workshops, and in the classroom for over 15 years throughout Brazil, Saint Lucia, and the United States having participated in outreach programs aiming to provide equal opportunities for youth at risk.
Wagner earned his Bachelor of Music from Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro with a specialization in arrangement for Brazilian popular music and his Master’s of Music with an emphasis on composition/film scoring at Western Oregon University. He currently lives with his wife in Orange County. - Location
