So I just bought this 2018 BSR 5 string. Took me 30+ years but finally a KS bass owner!

Nice bass. Since FB became more popular, this and other Forums have quieted down quite a bit.

Back in the fold. Have an upcoming project that could use extended range, and while I historically haven't bonded with 6'ers, I at least know I'll like the sound of a Smith and it will be highly playable. First shedua top I've had - gorgeous. I'm usually not a gold hardware kinda guy but the coloration of the shedua makes it work to my eye.

Here are my Smith's. A 2006 Black Tiger Elite 6 string and a 2013 MLD 7 string with western maple core and tiger maple top and back. The photo's are from my visit to Ken's factory back in April 2013. I went to pick up my new 7 string and took the Black Tiger along for some TLC..

Hi all,

I joined the forum last year as I reached out to Ken to know more about his basses. After a bit of research, I managed to travel 400KM to a shop in Japan where I found my first Ken Smith bass.

I got an amazingly gorgeous Ken Smith Black Tiger 5 string, with an Ebony fretboard, hard rock maple neck with Sedua veneers, 4A Figured Crotch Walnut top and back and hard rock maple core. A complete beauty!

Sharing a couple of photos here!

Tim Bishop 03-27-2022 02:35 PM

Good for you!

Consider yourself fortunate. There's nothing like a Smith.

Hello colleagues, I have been fans of Ken for 12 years, my first bass was a BSR5MA, eight years later I managed to go for a BSR5MW and a few months later for a 5MW.

Today I am happy, I was finally able to have a Ken Smith Black Tiger... I present them to you.

A jewelry job...long live the master Ken Smith.
