Phillies - NLCS Champs!

The Phillies beat the Dodgers in the fifth game of the NLCS 10-4. Phillies now advance to the World Series for the second consecutive time.

Now it's down to who wins in the ALCS. With the Yankees up 3 games to 1, should be a no-brainer: Game 5 Thursday, October 22. :)

Tim Bishop 10-23-2009 12:36 AM

Angels win game 5!

Wow!, Wow!, Wow! What a great game! Angels win game 5 by score of 7 - 6!

I'd love to see Angels come back and win the next two. Oh well, we shall see. Game 6, Saturday in New York. Don't miss it!

ALCS Standing:

Yankees 3; Angels 2.

Richard Prowse 10-23-2009 01:46 AM

Tim, I think the idea on a forum is that you write something and someone else replies - at least, that's what Ken once told me.

Ken Smith 10-23-2009 02:34 AM

lol..

Once? ONLY once?..lol

Richard, if stranded ever on a lone island, I think you could survive better than anyone I know. Did you see the movie Cast Away? I could just see Tom Hanks as you.. lol

Richard, you are a one of a kind. ;)

Also, I heard the game on the Radio as I was driving home and watched it from the 2nd - 4th inning on TV and then.. I fell asleep.:( I woke back up about an hour after the game ended to see that the Yanks scored 6 in the 7th but then LA scored 3 more. The 8th and 9th was scoreless allowing LA to win by a run. If not for that 'asleep at the wheel' first inning by the Yanks, they might of had a chance. Let's see what happens in NY. I think LA will get mugged up in the Bronx. Be careful how you dress that day if you're going to the game in NY.:o

I think the Yanks and the Phils will meet in the series. What say y'all?

Tim Bishop 10-23-2009 02:48 AM

Most likely..

Yes, as much as I would love to see the Angels come back and take the ALCS, I think it's lookin like a Phils/Yanks WS. I'm still pullin for the Angels though. They have it in them to come back. Should be a great game 6 come Saturday in NY.

Richard Prowse 10-23-2009 04:51 PM

The Phils were a man down in the seventh quarter, against the Raptors, last I heard. They won't make the play offs.

Ken Smith 10-23-2009 05:49 PM

huh?

The Yank's Choked last night. Maybe, it will be Phils and Angels.. you think?

Must be that fine air they breathe there in NY. I know my lungs feel a lot better since I left. Maybe the Cali weather was to much for their northern blood to handle.

Hey, I live here buy I'm from NY. Still, I accept that bet. Phils win it in 4-7 games. Too much math for me..

Don't write off the dodgers just yet, not with shoeless Joe Jackson in the outfield. I'm gonna say 97-2 to the Phils though.

ALCS Over....

Well, the Angels loose game 6 of the ALCS to the Yankees :(. Yankees win 5-2 to advance to the World Series.

Game 1 of World Series, Wednesday: Yankees vs. Phillies. Go Phillies!

Anyway, how can you guys call something a world series when you play it amongst yourselves. In the world of sex there's a name for activities like that.

You are on the wrong Forum/WebSite with this. Silly only goes so far.

I added the name 'Play Pen' to the Bull Pit just for you Richard. Please keep it out of the gutter.http://www.smithbassforums.com/images/icons/icon4.gif

Yes Sir Richard, you should be on the Home And Garden site. Then, when you're done with your gutters, please help with ours. Ah yes, Fall in The South. It's raining leaves constantly and the gutters are needing help getting rid of them.

Nothing against the Phillies - just when I was a young lad, The Yankees were in some of their glory days with Mickey Mantle, Roger Marris, Whitey Ford etc., so unless something happens for me to change, I'll probably be going with them, even though contrary to Rebels, I guess Yankees will do. :)

PS to my friend Richard (from an old commercial) - "Don't take the World Serious."

Ken Smith 10-26-2009 12:30 PM

Mickey?

How about Joe Pepitone? Roger was a rookie when Mickey was already a veteran. Whitey? How old are you? I was like a child to a teen at beast when I learned these names.

Pepitone was one and Yogi Berra, I believe, was another in that general era. I will be your age in less than 2 months. :D

This can actually be taken three ways:
Are you are referring to the people who occupied the southern coast of Canaan in biblical times, or are you describing someone (or a group of people) who undervalues art, or are you making a reference to the team that will front up to the Yankees (whoever they may be) who are, in your opinion, a bit lacking in appreciation of the finer things in life?

Ken Smith 10-27-2009 05:54 PM

Well Richard, with all the time you spend here posting silly stuff, I could suggest you look no further..:D:rolleyes:

The Bull Pit was re-named The Play Pen just to fit you.
If not, it would seem like the Forum went thru some warp in space or culture.:o

Did you say you were a Teacher by profession?
If so, what do you teach and to whom?

Yes, this is what I mean.

Well, the Philistines who occupied the southern coast of Canaan, in biblical times, are all dead. That's just silly to think that they could turn up to some modern sporting fixture. Now I see why Ken renamed The Bull Pit the Play Pen. Though, if he intended a reference to the southern coast of Cannan, The Sand Pit might have been a more appropriate name.
Option 2 (someone (or a group of people) who undervalues art) would imply that these Yankees are all sensitive individuals who are artistically superior to their opposition. I don't know if that's the best quality for a sporting team to have.
Option 3, if I may say so, is a little self praising, considering that you are obviously siding a little with the Yankees. What, after all, is the fate of an artist who sees himself as standing above the common folk? Remember that a bass player (or an artist) is only as good as his last gig.

Oren Hudson 10-28-2009 09:46 AM

It's getting close to that time that, at least "Here (US)" will have Halloween land on Saturday night.

With that in mind, I'm wondering what all of you folks are going to use for costumes. Please advise so that I won't become too alarmed if I see you. Of course, the easy ones will be those who are scary enough to not need to "dress up."

My friend Richard, since you'll be among the first to experience Halloween, won't you start us off? :D

I'm still tossing up whether to dress up as a Singer or a trumpet player.

I did some research:
"The World Series is played between the League Championship Series winning clubs from MLB's two circuits, the American and National Leagues, which collectively consist of 30 teams based in the United States and one in Canada (Toronto) with players drawn primarily from the United States, Latin America (including the Caribbean), Canada, Japan, and Korea."
So, players can come from different countries but 30 of the 31 teams are based in the US. Not exactly a world series. Maybe it should be renamed The US +1 Series?
Oh yes, and it seems that the Phillies are not from Philistine.

Careful not to sew your lips together, my friend, resulting in no trumpet nor candy. That would be a shame. :)

And what quarter are they in? Any touchdowns yet? Have the All Blacks scored? Maybe you should dress as a member of the All Blacks, Richard.

I'm starting a bass playing championship in New Zealand. I've decided to call it The World Bass Playing Championship. New Zealand bass players will compete for the world title, along with one Australian.

Phillies: 1
Yankees: 0
