Ken, there's no place for geographic discrimination on this forum - you can do that some place else, but not here!
Next you'll be wanting to call this place Ken's World Corner and what sense will that make? No wonder you had to rename this place The Play Pen!:rolleyes:
Now go back and edit your posts, or I will!

Hang on, you're supposed to talk to me like that and not the other way round. Sorry.:o

Game 2 World Series - Tonight - Phillies and Yankees

Game 2 of World Series less than an hour away! Phill's are up 1 to 0. :D

Arnold Schnitzer 10-29-2009 08:16 PM

Cliff Lee had the Yanks' number last night. It was depressing, especially when I think that they may face him 3 times in the series. The Yanks' bats were uncharacteristically quiet and the bullpen got hammered. Hats off to Cliff Lee for a great pitching performance. Please don't do it again!

Tim Bishop 10-29-2009 08:24 PM

I don't know.....

I don't know Arnold, it's Pedro tonight against A.J. SHOULD be another great pitching match-up. ;)

Ken Smith 10-29-2009 09:17 PM

lol..

Top of the 2nd and the spanking of the Yanks continues.. This coming from a former native New Yorker..

Hey Arnold, how many players on the Yankee's are actually Native New Yorkers? Any of them? Huh?

Tim Bishop 10-30-2009 12:26 AM

Not tonight...

Series Score:

Game 3 Saturday night goes home to Philadelphia where the Phill's are 11-1 in postseason play. This series should only get better. :D

Tim Bishop 10-31-2009 11:55 PM

Thx Arnold. I fixed the original post. I guess I played one too many tunes and had one too many spicy buffalo wings last night. :p Or, just wishful thinking. :)

World Series - Game 4

Game 4 of WS in progress. The Phill's need to win this one. If not, most likely a WS win for the Yank's.

Series score:

Phillies 1
Yankees 2

Tim Bishop 11-02-2009 12:52 AM

Game 4 over.

Game 4 of WS is over. Great game through the bottom of the 8th., with game tied 4 - 4. However, with two outs in top of the 9th., Yankees come back to win 7 - 4. One more game in Philly and Phill's have to win or it's over.

Series score:

Phillies 1
Yankees 3

Ken Smith 11-02-2009 12:54 AM

Game over?

Tim Bishop 11-02-2009 12:56 AM

Maybe....

Frustrating loss for sure, however, I'll go with the Phill's next game sending it back to NY where Yanks will win it.

Arnold Schnitzer 11-02-2009 10:47 AM

The difference in game 4? A-Rod's bat woke up, Ryan Howard's didn't.

Ken Smith 11-02-2009 10:52 AM

oh?

Beat twice at home? That Tail is GLUED between their legs!

Ken Smith 11-02-2009 10:53 AM

But..

The Yank's pitching woke up too buddy!.. Can't score if you can't hit!

Tim Bishop 11-02-2009 12:42 PM

A-Rod's bat?

Well, up to that point in the series, A-Rod only had one hit (a home run). I'll agree on this, certainly the high-dollar players weren't getting it done.

I'd say the difference, without question, in game 4 was Johnny Damon. With two quick outs from Lidge at the top of the 9th., Damon ends up working the pitch count and then drives the ball for a hit. He then stole 2nd. bass, and then third (because the Phill's were playing the shift). Without Damon's heads-up at-bat and bass running, who knows what happens in the bottom of the 9th. in game 4?

I'm just sayin'...

Tim Bishop 11-02-2009 12:47 PM

We'll see.....

Tim Bishop 11-02-2009 08:31 PM

Game 5 WS about to start......

Ok, game 5 of World Series is about to start.

Series score:

Phillies 1
Yankees 3

I'm going with the Phill's and Cliff Lee to win this one tonight.

Ken Smith 11-02-2009 09:41 PM

ok, ok

When I said the Yanks win tonight I had forgotten the game was in Philly. I thought they were going back to NY. Look, I want the Phil's to win. I just think that in NY, the Yanks will sweep the series..

Tim Bishop 11-02-2009 10:12 PM

Yes....

Lookin good through the bottom of third. Phill's on top 6-1. A. J. Burnett is gone. :)

Tim Bishop 11-02-2009 11:08 PM

Bottom of 6 th.

Bottom of 6 th., Phill's on top 6 - 2. Another well pitched game by Cliff Lee. :)

Tim Bishop 11-03-2009 12:32 AM

Damn! Great Game 5....

Can you say nail-biter!? Damn! Top of the ninth wasn't any easier as the Yank's threaten a come-back in Game 5 of WS. Once again Johnny Damon, like last night, works the pitch count from 0 - 2 to come back and get a hit to give the Yank's a chance. But, multi-million-dollar-boy Teixeria strikes out to end the game.

Yanks make it interesting but fall short. Phill's win Game 5 by the score of 8 - 6.

Series score:

Phillies 2
Yankees 3

Game 6 Wednesday night in New York.

Tim Bishop 11-04-2009 08:01 PM

Game 6....

Ok, Game 6 will be starting soon. I will go with the Phill's and Pedro Martinez tonight. :D If I'm right, Ken, you'll be givin Arnold a call for that lunch he'll owe you!

Series score (going into game 6):

Phillies 2
Yankees 3

Ken Smith 11-04-2009 09:04 PM

really?

Well....

Well, Pedro does not have his good stuff tonight and it does not look good for the Phill's.

Matsui 4; Phill's 1 through 3rd. inning.

Phill's better get someone up with better stuff in the bottom of 4th. or this game and the series is over.

Ken Smith 11-04-2009 11:34 PM

see??

Like I said a few days ago, back in NY, the Yanks will win! Score is 7-3, NY. I think I was right. Only bottom of the 6th, the Yanks at bat and I don't think the Phil's have the horsepower to catch NY in 3 innings!

Tim Bishop 11-05-2009 12:29 AM

Yep....

Yep, this game is now 3 outs away from being over. Game 7 would've been great to see, however, not this year and not for the Phill's.

Tim Bishop 11-05-2009 12:53 AM

Congratulations Yankees....

Congratulations Yankees. Game 6 and the 2009 World Series winners. 27 World Series Wins.

Ken Smith 11-05-2009 12:53 AM

Yup..

As predicted... NY, NY..

Tim Bishop 11-05-2009 12:53 AM

Oh no........

Oh please, not that song again. :p

Ken Smith 11-05-2009 01:03 AM

What are you guys gonna chat about now? How about the merits and love of grits? No, no. Wait a minute, we already have a large thread for that. OK - you guys appear to be somewhat reasonably competent - so I guess you'll figure it out sooner or later. BTW - I believe that from the beginning, I was going with the Yankees as a nostalgic part of my youth. :)

Arnold Schnitzer 11-05-2009 09:33 AM

Godzilla Rocks!!! Too bad that may have been his last game as a Yank. :( Holy crap, what if the Red Sox sign him!?!?!?!?

Tim Bishop 11-05-2009 03:02 PM

Yeah.....

Maybe....

Well, maybe. Either him or Johnny Damon most likely won't be back as a Yank. They are both about the same age and both certainly have a few years left in them. But after what Matsui did in the WS, he's lookin pretty marketable right about now.
