beautiful bass man.. That's an awesome grain pattern in that ebony top. I often wonder how heavy those things are.

Ebony is a VERY heavy wood (5.5 Lbs. per Bd. Ft.) but oh so worth it! The total weight of the bass probably weighs somewhere in the vicinity of 12 Lbs. Like Ebony, Cocobolo is another VERY heavy wood but my favorite tone wood of all. ;)

The ebony is not very heavy at all to me but I'm 6'3" 280Ibs so maybe that helps on the weight issue.

attached is a back photo for all interested.

Beautiful..

Beautiful bass. How do you like what Ebony gives you tone-wise?

Without question that bass would be a wise choice for Ronson, like Texas and hats, there made for each other.:D

Tim Bishop 03-21-2007 09:38 AM

Ken's Corner just won't be the same without him! (sniff, honk! Sniff, sniff...) Now, could you show us to the room where he left his Smiths???

David, are my eyes playing tricks on me (I am getting older) but the wings on your bass look a bit slimmer than mine, what year is that model.

When I get it back from Ken I'll let you know, just from the photo it appears to me that his wings are proportionately smaller, it might be just my weaning eye sight. LOL:D

Tim Bishop 03-21-2007 06:54 PM

Another reason why.....

Bring em on! :)

Steve_M 03-22-2007 04:05 PM

I don't think I could cope with 7 strings, 6 is enough for me. But I'd love a BSR6 on that wide body and headstock shape.

Bob Faulkner 03-22-2007 05:23 PM

Beautiful basses man

Miko Espanol 03-22-2007 06:59 PM

Very beautiful Smith's guys! =) One day, I will find the perfect BT5.

Chris, thanks for the info on how you go about handling your set-up, words cannot manifest just how awesome your axes are, and from what I heard when I visited your link your not afraid to take your playing to the limit. Excellent hand position, fingering and intonation skills, exactly how long have you been playing? and what or who are your influences coming up and currently?

:) Greets to all enthusiastic KS users. I've searched a long time for a forum like this...

Here are my 4 KS's:

One more (a BSR5EG fretless similar to the Tiger Maple 5EG above) is on the way. And I'm looking forward to get a Black Tiger Elite in the future.

The first one is one of the 4 Collector's Classics and is shown on Ken's webpage here: http://www.kensmithbasses.com/models...medwalnut.html

Best regards from Germany.

Albert Smith 04-03-2007 06:35 PM

Those axes are simply perfect, an excellent collection of Smith basses, I noticed though no 4 string. I suspect that your taste is more so for 5,6, 7 string playing. ;)

Tim Bishop 04-03-2007 11:55 PM

Albert, should we expect a photo of your returning CR6?
