Does this amp have a good quality horn? If not, you will not hear the real treble that the bass produces.

Ampeg PF-210 Cabinet

Agreed. This particular cabinet does have a tweeter and L-Pad Attenuator. So, he should be able to dial-in some nice crisp/sparkly highs. With the 2x10 Eminence Speakers and a well designed cabinet, he should be good to go (53Hz-17kHz). If it meets his coverage needs.

This would be my practice amp/cab for my home and church rehearsals. Any other combo amp/cab out there that could be better bag for my $$$.
Currently living in Panama Central America and don't have the large music stores to be able to test out so really hoping you guys could lead me in the right path.

Thanks guys for all your imput!

Bad Reviews

Did some research on the Ampeg PF-500 and seems that there some issues with this amp. What other amp/cab combo would you guys recommend?

Tim Bishop 11-06-2013 10:11 PM

Combo?

Eden Metro's.

http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...m_dc210xlt.htm .... or .... http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...v/dc112xlt.asp

They have been discontinued, however, if you look on the used market and shop smart you can find one at a good price. Great combo amps and they can handle a 2 ohm load!

Or...

An Eden WTX-500 into an Eden 210XST 8 ohm cabinet is another option. http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...tx/wtx500.aspx

The WTX-500 can handle a 4 ohm load, so, you can add an additional Eden 210XST or 210XLT 8 ohm cabinet for additional coverage (when needed). There are many other options.

Check eBay. I've seen some good deals on these combos recently. ;)

What do u think SWR

Hi Tim, after searching in my local stores in Panama I have not been able to find any Eden Amps unfortunately! The only thing that I have found is a SWR WorkingPro 2x10C 8 ohm Bass Combo...
Your thoughts? I can get this for $900.00 brand new. If not good then I will have to bring one from the States once I got to pick up my bass once I get the call from Ken that it's ready.

Thanks in advance!

Tim Bishop 11-17-2013 08:45 PM

Maybe...

A couple questions:

Will that amp handle a 4 ohm load? If so, how much wattage from the amp at 4 ohms?

Can it handle a 2 ohm load? If so, how much wattage at 2 ohms?

Tim Bishop 11-17-2013 08:57 PM

Hmm...

After doing a little research, I don't think your getting the best bang for the buck. While these amps are no longer made, they also don't provide that much headroom: 260W at 8 ohms and 400W at 4 ohms (with an 8 ohm extension cabinet), you need to ask yourself if that's enough coverage for your needs. Way to many variables for me to assume here. For sure the price is too high for what you are getting. You should be able to get one of those on the used market for half that. I'd hold out for something better if I were you.

Your Right!!!

No problem. Let me know when you're in the US. If you have any questions while you're here, feel free to ask away and I'll do my best to help.

Finally got something coming...

Hi Tim,
So after a few days searching online I have landed a New Eden WTX 264 amp and EX410 Neo cab @ 8 ohms. Price was just right with free shipping. The cab is a manufactured refurbished and I got the 2 year warranty. Hopefully I have no issues with the cab. This will be my practice amp and small gig/ church events.

Let me know what u think...

Thanks bud!

By the way I was looking at you KS bass collection and it's very impressive!

Tim Bishop 11-26-2013 11:12 PM

Well....

Well, as a "practice amp and small gig/church events" set-up, you should be good. Because the WTX-264 can handle a 4 ohm load, you would be able to add one more 8 ohm cabinet to get the added coverage and full 300W (at 4 ohms) from the amp. The other nice feature: You have a great DI out of that amp to FOH (if needed).

When I play at Church and because we utilize Aviom's with in-ear monitors, all I need is a DI out of my Eden WTDI to FOH and I have all I need. Makes for a really easy set-up, without any additional work needed (i.e. like hauling a cabinet with me), and the bass in the mix is perfect. You can do the same with your WTX-264.

Danny Hernandez 11-30-2013 12:12 PM

Thanks Tim for all the help and assistance and guiding me in the right path on getting the correct amp / cab set up! Bass is done and should be able to play it after the holidays once I go back home for a few days. Work just has me really busy traveling all over Central and South America. On positive thing about the job is that am able to afforded these new toys.
