First KSB - BSRJ5 MW

I'm very excited to have received my first KSB, a 1997 BSRJ5 MW. Within hours of opening the FedEx package, I was giggin' it and what a great sound! I set everything flat on bass and preamp and tweaked in tiny increments to dial in the tonality very precisely. The controls are intuitive and responsive, the bass is lighter than expected (I'm used to Alembics), and hangs very comfortably on the strap. You'll notice in the pics that it's got recessed straplocks, which, I guess weren't stock on the bolt-ons.

Put some TCRM-5 Strings on to get all that the bass can deliver. ;)

In fact, they are on order! Thanks for building a terrific bass.

Classic Wax Polish!

I spent the morning with my BSRJ5 MW and some KS Classic Wax Polish. If you compare the image with the comparable one posted a week or so ago, you can see how effectively the polish works on the scuffs that were near neck and the neck PUP on the G-string side.

Finish protection

There is a region near the base of the lower horn on a BSR that is particularly susceptible to gouging from fingernails, which, in turn, happens during slapping. I was wondering how to protect this area. I know that there are transparent films that stick by static, but they only work on glossy finishes. Any ideas?
