Julia's got a Boston accent so I don't think she'd get the joke across somehow. ;)

stan haskins 04-27-2007 08:22 AM

That's no Boston accent . . . that's the sherry talking.

Hey Steve, some guy on myspace sent me a friend request yesterday - he uses the same avatar as you, except he seems to lean more towards the "pschopathic" side.

C'mon - original avatars only, man!

Not from what I can see, apparently she prefers beer. We've got a well known drunken celeb chef in the UK called Keith Floyd, although he's teetotal these days. He used to get very wellied on camera and end up leering into it and being very bossy to the cameraman.

BTW, changing the subject slightly. I had a drink last night with this bloke:

and this bloke

My mate Mike works for Jazzwise magazine here in the UK and Chris was giving a demo of his Yamaha Silent Bass. I loved his playing but the instrument left me uninspired. Jools Holland is almost a british institution having run his huge RnB boogie orchestra for over 15 years. I've chatted to Dave on the phone before but hadn't met him in real life yet.

Dave plays a Ernst Heinrich Roth 1939 Double Bass.

Yamaha Silent Bass...
Is this a bass guitar with no pickups?
A bass with no strings?
Really a motorcycle, only the engine won't start?

Steve_M 05-06-2007 02:39 PM

Its a bass that knows when to stop talking. ;)

Did you mean 'torquing', as in neck adjustment?

Anselm Hauke 05-06-2007 03:54 PM

then the forum-software said:
"The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters."
so i added one after another, until i could post my answer.

Ah, Haukey! You know all about Wainuiomata!
Good spelling too!
One point though... my writing doesn't actually make much noise.
Are you using a metaphor?
