Hi from British Columbia

Hi everybody!

Those of you who have dual citizenship probably know me from the other Forum - for those who don't:

I'm a guitar player/bluegrass singer/cabinetmaker turned repairman. I've always loved DB and used to (still do, I guess) play bass at jams whenever the opportunity arose.

I see a lot of bluegrass instruments - vintage Martin guitars, old Gibson mandolins and banjos, lots of Kays but I also get my share of Czech shop basses and older instruments as my reputation grows. I'm a believer in the concept of mode-matching and think that, in general, weight is the enemy of tone. :)

Seeya, Jake

Thanks Tim! I've been reading for a while, just thought it was time to join...

Here's a welcome from the Tarheel State - North Carolina. Since you've been lurking some, you already know those that are on here because of mental illness, right? Well, they know who they are. But before we go any further, please tell me that you've indulged in that fine Southern treat - grits. If not, so sorry. :)

Jake de Villiers 06-04-2009 06:29 PM

Hold the grits!

I have had grits and I say thanks, but no thanks. :)

Tim Bishop 06-04-2009 06:33 PM

+1

Dude, you're quite the poet,
and I'm sure you know it.

Maybe this -
There once was a girl from Nantucket...

Oh well, some other time. :)

Tim Bishop 06-04-2009 09:42 PM

Well...

Copyright infringement? Do you know what the penalty for that is Tim? You must reference grits publicly in this forum for 3 straight days. Isn't that right Richard? Maybe other penalties too.

A better punishment would be to make him write ten episodic posts on the Happy Days thread. Each post should get a little happier than the one before it.

Joel Larsson 06-06-2009 04:22 PM

And to stress the increase in happiness, he can use no more than one smiley n the first post, but the number will be increased by one for every post, until the last and tenth (after which the forum doesn't allow you to use any larger quantity of smilies.) The blue smiley can not, under any circumstances, be allowed.

Welcome aboard Al. Just remember to be positive on the Happy Days thread and you should be fine.

Joel Larsson 06-06-2009 07:10 PM

Yeah, welcome, Al! You can see that Richard has managed a good 2,563 silly posts without any obvious harm being done to him! He even got away with being a little gloomy in the mentioned Happy Days thread... you'll stay alive, too. ;)

A few of my posts have been serious - I estimate that I've done 26 serious posts. Get your facts right E. Joel.
