These 4 basses just came in and are awaiting final set-up and tweaking to meet the standards of what I usually represent. Although currently playable, they can also be sold as-is for a lower price or they will be for sale at 'market price' when all the set-up work has been completed.
They are from front to back; a German Flatback Orchestra Bass by Hermann Dölling c.1900, a Viennese Bass/Violone by Ferdinand Hell, Vienna c.1830, a Bass by Mihaly Remenyi, Budapest c.1900 modified with Violin corners and outer linings in the olde English Style, and a 3/4 Prague/Bohemian Gamba c.1850 (attributed to Jan Bina). |
out on the town..
Last night I used the Prague bass, the last in the rack, at the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia. We did Mozart 36 and Serenade for Strings by Elgar, conducted by Andre Raphel, a former asst. conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the NY Phil., etc. It was a good night. :)
