Re-built and modified by Mike Magee, Pittsburgh Pa., completed Fall 2022. New Pictures..

Having just come in from Europe with just some minimal set-up, this bass will now go into the shop for its KS/USA style set-up like all the other double basses in the racks in our showroom. The work will include fingerboard dressing or replacement, new bridge with adjusters, new tailwire with adjustable clamp and new endpin at the least. When it returns to the showroom, it will be ready for professional use.

The Top and Back are original from an old Remenyi bass but the shape was modified from a larger gamba model to an Italian Violin cornered bass. This was copied from an old Italian bass that was also re-built by this same restorer several years before. The Ribs are new along with the English Dodd-Forster Style reinforced squared corners. The Scroll is from an old Italian bass. The sound is deep and powerful.

String Length; 41 3/4"
Top/Back Length; 43" top, 44 1/4" back
Upper Bout; 18 3/4"
Middle Bout; 13 1/2"
Lower Bout; 24 1/2"
Ribs; 7 3/4", 6" at neck
