Ken, What Is Al "The Burner" Using?

Ken, I am so enjoying Melvin Davis & Al The Burner" Turner's CD's you sent me! I really, really enjoy playing along (or, trying to play along on some of the tunes) with the "It's Good To Have Friends" CD.

Question: I'm guessing that altough Al owns several Smith 5 String basses, he's doing most of the solo work on one of his 6-strings, judging from the ease in which he's reaching hte high notes.

Do you know if this is the case?

He has a 6 with Zebra Top we made around 1993. It was the BSR prototype which he helped to design. Why not just ask Him?

Ken, I just did! He had already been gracious enough to respond to a message I sent to him a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't think to ask him this question, and didn't want to "bug" him... :)

Al's in town..

Al called us a few hours ago as he was just getting off the Plane in Philly. He is playing with Earl Klugh tonight at 9pm, just up the street. It's walking distance from the shop. I have seen Al with Earl before but I can't think of missing it right in my own back yard.. ;)
