Wayman Tisdale: 1965-2009
Folks,
Although I didn't know Wayman Tisdale to be a Smith player, he was nonetheless a very gifted bass player and, by all reports, a very fine human being. He apparently died in the last 24 hours after a hard-fought battle with bone cancer. He had a leg amputated about a year ago in an attempt to halt the spread of the disease, but to no avail. He had a very strong faith in God, and spoke of it often. He also played 12 strong seasons in the NBA before beginning his joyous recording career. Although I didn't know him personally, I miss him already. Below are a couple of links to some of his music videos. God bless his memory, and his family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD4tDYRz_tA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6SLb...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ4DaBVn4Uk |
What a loss...
Wow, thanks for that Ronson. What a testimony. A shame and another great loss.

RIP Wayman..
I heard just a few minutes ago on the radio, news about the passing of Wayman Tisdale.
I met him several years ago at a NAMM show, had dinner with him along with a few other notables (was our 15th anniversary with Freddy Washington, Marcus Miller and Al Turner at the table at the Ivy in LA). He was a great musician and retired pro basketball player from the 'Suns and a true Gentleman. We will miss him.. This is also posted here on a Thread I started earlier. |
