Thought you folks might appreciate this. I studied with Terry a long time ago...he has just gotten better and more fluid.

I have never heard any other players able to solo arco, in jazz, like this. He plays standards' changes with the same freedom shown here (although this example is essentially hanging out in Cm7). Never mind all the orchestral writing and conducting he has been doing...

He used to play with the National Symphony, was with Roberta Flack in her heyday, and studied with the former NYPhil principal, Robert Brennand. Check out clip #1 first, then clip #3:

That knocked me out the first time I saw it.... still does.

These videos either make me want to practice my arco jazz.... or just hang it up altogether! :eek:
