best to slap??

hi.i need to replace my strings on my 6m smith but im not sure what ken recommends for slapin on 6 strings.the sound im after is the slap tone that reggie washinton is gettin from his 5 string smith.i think its a black tiger model bass that hes using.are the burners best for slap or tapercores being that i have a 6 and not a 5 string.gauge- lights or extra lights?? if someone could advise me i would be most appreciative thanks

the true smith sound!

thank you for your quick reply to my string question Tim.do you recommend a certain smith string gauge for a very low action.im mostly using my thumb and index finger on the funk style slap with some ghost notes here and there and i heard that the lighter the gauge the cleaner the notes?.but then i guess the final sound one gets from his smith bass whether a 4,5 or 6 string is attributed to ones rig setup? is this correct.so then if i just want to get the smith preamp sound coming out of my rig and not all those add ons like mids, drive, scoop and 9 band eq and so on.should i set all levels and gains on my amp head to 0 or flatline?.i just want to basicly here the woods and electronics from my smith.how do you approach this?.

This is certainly part of it, but the larger part is in the hands and the abilities of the player.

You can do this with the bass being unplugged. If you can hear the quality in the instrument unplugged, you will be a happier camper when it's plugged in.

Well, the first thing I do is make sure the bass is set-up for me. That means: Action is where I want it, strings are fresh and neck is tuned. Then, I play it unplugged and listen for consistent focus up and down the neck. If all is well, I plug into my Eden rig and enjoy it in the mix.

I was just wondering if I could get those strings directly from KS shop or do I have to find a french dealer ?
I've already checked here but I can't get medium taper core Smith strings in my close neighborhood ...

How can I buy directly to Ken ? Is there any "on-line" shop ?
