Call me old fashion but I like D too.

I never know wether to write 'old fashon' or 'old fashioned'.

Which brings us to an interesting point:
If I asked you what was the last letter in the alphabet, you'd probably answer "Z"... and who could argue with that?
What if I asked you what was the last letter in your sentence?
The "e" in 'favourite'?
I'm going to step out on a limb here and suggest that the little blue guy (;) ) could be interpreted as a letter.
Maybe the last note you play on your bass is a crotchet rest?
('quarter note rest' in yankee tongue)

Hey Anselm, thanks but let's keep this thread on topic.

At the moment I'm really enjoying the harmonic D above the octave G harmonic. It is really a handy little note to build a thumb position around.

i like the harmonic "e" between the "d" and "f#" on the d-string at the end of the fingerboard (the one you use for example in the bottesini elegie: g-f#-g-e)

Gosh, this thread has already proved its worth.

Bb is a good note, though not my absolute favourite.

Today I like the F on the G string. Yesterday I liked the open A. I like Bb on the A string too, but I don't like it on the G string. I think it's a wolf. Man... all this A,B,C makes me dizzy. I like Do, Re, Mi better.

I like the C on the A-string as well. For shaking things up, I like the low C#/Db on the C-extension. It doesn't have too many friendly harmonics so it just shakes the entire bass. I use it to warm the wood up before I play sometimes. Try it an octave higher as well on the A string if you don't have an extension. I've always like that Db feel in my gut when I play it.

Play that Db loud enough and it will scare that Wolf away.;)

The open E and it's octave on the D string make the windows and the dishes in my house shake. Sometimes i like that. But when I'm trying to do some serious practice (which is rare) not so much.

You're totally misinformed, Richard. The last letter is "Ö".

As for scaring wolves away, there is this Norwegian sheep farmer who had a few sheep too many ripped to shreds, so he put a huge stereo in a shed blasting heavy metal over the fields all day long. Maybe heavy metal is good for wolf notes too?

I like open A. My bass plays it very loud and nice. Depending on my choice of strings, the E can be a lovely reminder as to why I bought this bass. Don't care so much about the G and D strings. Any bass will sound okay on those if you make it. And I am bummed about for reasons unknown having lost my vibrato in the Eb-A range on the G-string.
