Hi,

Firstly thanks for this informative and great website!
I got this bass only two weeks ago,the seller had had it 20+ years,he had a
new ebony fingerboard installed, but it hasn't been open his time,so all the repairs have been done long time ago.Plays well and sounds good,it's believed to be circa 1900 German, what are your thoughts? What would be the value?

Regards

Jukka

seal?

There is a washed out seal or stamp in the back button. I have seen basses like this. If you can make out some of it, maybe I can ID the name.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your interest,I tried my best with a magnifying glass and took a few more pics in different lights (tried even different filters in Aperture),but I cannot really find any letters...at 2 o'clock there almost is some writing..other questionmarks, are the tuning keys original, there seems to be old holes that have been filled..
A friend mine of suspects this to be a Bohemian bass, and it looks very similar(to me)than the one you've sold on your double bass department..

??

German or Bohemian. Can I see the back of the pegbox/scroll, the Button? Also, some of the sides, clear straight shots. You have seen how I do them on the website. That is the best way to see the bass, straight on, every tyep of shop and part of the bass.

And yes, the tuners have been replaced.
