I had an American bass once with a Pine back but was flat and thick. Price is low for a bass but at that price, if the back explodes, a new flat back of maple or plywood can be made.

I have no idea about the maker or if the instrument you found is authentic to that name. It is hard to tell sometimes a real maker from some of the Hungarian counterfeit makers.

Rubner is different usually. Possibly Lang or Wilfer. Saxon and Shoenbach basses can be made by the same shops in whole or in part. There are other bass makers in the area that period but the back...
