Martin, I can only speak for myself on this but I've found Smiths have an inheret 'desk friendly' upper mid scoop which I've discovered is shared by Eden and SWR amps to the point when I'm playing...

There were a fair number of GK users at the start of this thread. I'm not a fan of Epifani. I've tried a couple of rigs and it simply wasn't crisp enough for my ears.

I'm heartened to see so many players using solid state kit. I have a DVD compilation of soul bands on the Later With Jools Holland show screened here in the UK and all the Smith players are using SWR...
