So, in theory, to "modify" a 18mm bass (pickup placement) you'll need a tighter pole-spacing pickups - to keep everything aligned correctly.

OK, I'm not giving up.
I've noticed the pickup position on wide (19mm) models is difference than your standard bass. There's more space between the bridge and b/pickup. A midi pickup would fit...

Question Roland GK-3B midi pickup on a Ken Smith

Anyone knows if would fit on a Smith bass - is there enough space between the bridge and pickup, and enough room for the rest of the unit to be attached?
