I get dramatically more life out of mine.. I change strings about once every 6 months or so. I've gone a year before they were dead enough to care.

Mine wind up on my basement floors or the trash. They get plenty of use before they get there though. I cycle my strings down the chain from most played bass to least.. My new 4 string sets of Smith...
