The 212XLT is a very old school sounding cabinet and in my opinion a great middle of the road between a traditional XLT and XST. The tone to me is very remenisant of the late '70's Sunn concert bass...

That may be because of the "quality" recording of my Kodak camera. It is however being played pasive as well as the eq on the amp being flat as a board. But it cries so well.:)

So much depends on cabinetry used. Most run the 800 with a 410XLT... I HATE that cabinet. With the 212's I love my tone. The 210XST/112XLT gets it done real nice as well and is my main rock rig.

I think Smith's are perfect basses. I play them exclusively because they are perfect basses. To me Smith basses (as well as my Eden rigs) only prove to any one that I will only accept perfect tone....
