Pine instead of spruce?

Hello everyone!
Is it okay to use pine (P.sylvestris) for a neck block? Maybe even for corner blocks and crossbars?

Thanks for your quick answer Ken!

I agree with you that the bass don´t look that old. It differs a lot from my other German shop bass so I´m grateful if you could tell me some more about this...

I agree that it is a simple work, feels kind of ruff. But I like the way the bass sound especially with the bow,...

Thank you Ken, that's also what I think after reading most of the Q and A:s here.

The bass has not a single crack in the top, witch is high arched and not very tight grain. But lot of old cracks...
