From what I can tell these strings are Thomastik...

From what I can tell these strings are Thomastik Superflexible, steel strings slightly higher in tension but quite close to Spirocore Mittel - should give a good idea about what the bass would sound...

Well, I perfectly get your point - I wasn't thinking of extreme length like 44.5" and I was actually trying to discuss sound / response more than playability. I bet a bass with 41.5" scale length...

True, that might be the initial idea, but I was just wondering how it affects tone (if at all), if it doesn't it would be worth asking why anyone builds a bass with above-average string length...

PS: On some of the pics the varnish seems a bit too orange, I think the close-up of the bridge gives the best idea of it's color though slightly underexposed.
