I agree with the one bass for everything, it's an approach I've been taking since buying my #1 bass. Even taking it places I "shouldn't" like outside. I find that I really just want to play that...

Seems like that might be pretty low for guts. When I used mine I was up around 8 on the G and 12 or so on the E.

What's Carlos' setup like?

Nothing much to say here Ken. Any of those would have been fine, I think the Pol is perfect. I deserves to be played more and the changes are small and totally reversible for not that much bread.

Whats the story on the Fendt? I don't remember a Fendt at AES or hearing anything about that. It's not like you see one just laying around everywhere. I played one at Kolstiens. It was majestic.

When I tuned it down a whole and then a half step it sounded amazing. G string thing totally disappeared. The lowered tension seems to be the thing. I do like using slightly higher tension strings...

Well some Luthiers do what they want but the best of them pay attention to the person paying the bill.
