I did some research:
"The World Series is played between the
League Championship Series winning clubs from MLB's two circuits, the
American and
National Leagues, which collectively consist of 30 teams based in the United States and one in

So, players can come from different countries but 30 of the 31 teams are based in the US. Not exactly a world series. Maybe it should be renamed The US +1 Series?
