I know what you're going through. A lady in my department has cancer and will have her second operation this coming Friday. She rang the other night to say that she couldn't come in for the first two weeks of next term. She's dealing with the big 'C' and she's worried about missing two weeks at school! I think the reality of work focuses her mind on something else.
