I've had them on my old German shop bass for at least 6 months and am pretty satisfied, but I have never seen another bass with these strings, either on stage or in a shop. What's the deal? Are they just out of fashion?
The old name for these are Thomastik 'Rope Core'. The name 'Superflexibles' is fairly new within the last 20 years or so. Players that wanted better strings for Bowing by Thomastik use Belcantos. The Supreflexibles are not all that popular in the Orchestra world or the Jazz world for that matter. The solo set might be easier to bow in both SF/Ropes and Spiros. I have used them but for my money and they do cost more, I would go with Belcantos.
