Tournier?
Ken, have you seen, or know anything about this maker/shop regarding basses? A friend of mine has one with his label. Early 20th Century.
A few pics on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/523667464327681/ It has 18" upper bouts, 41.75" string length, short bridge and a very skinny and shallow neck. 1/2" overstand. Seems to be in pretty good shape except for a couple worn edges. |

I have read about him and seen some mentions of basses. I think he was maybe a dealer. It is also possible that basses with his label were made by others. Paul Bisch basses and bows for example were made by others in that period as well. I have and have seen one other Mangenot bass from c.1900 that were similar. 3/4, round back, dark varnish, sloped shoulders. Typical solo model of the day.
Look similar? http://www.kensmithbasses.com/doublebasses/mangenot/ |
