Default John Patitucci Smith/Jackson 6 on YouTube.com

Ken,
Ive been looking for old clips of mid-80's Smith BT'S to have basis for comparison to my 85 Dovetail 4 P/J 85205. Taking John P. out of the equation, Im curious of the tone on these sets of videos featuring this bass. First, that tone, is it only possible from the neck through, or should my setneck be capable of something close? Next, does JP's bass have the HAZLAB preamp like mine, or does it have the 86 and later Smith BT circuit? His bass appears to have two switches, just curious what the 2nd switch would do. Im thinking of sending you my bass for a fix on the nut and a fret dress, and maybe switching out the HAZLAB for the Smith BT circuit. Again, taking JP's hands and technical ability out of the equation, would my bass be capable of tone like that if it had the BT circuit, even though its set neck and P/J? Thanks and let me know a good time to send my bass to you.
-Jeff Jenkins
