Help on a Burner
Hello Ken,
I'm currently in a pursue of '92 5 string burner, but i have a little doubt on the serial number which is 92824CR5. I know that "92" is year of make, "824" is the number of burners made at that time, "C" for custom and "5" for five string. However, i don't know what the "R" means, maybe it's a type of wood i'm not aware of... The bass has a translucid high gloss red finish and the wood below seems to be quilted maple, but i'm 100% sure... Thanks for the help! |

Ok, thanks again. Since in some basses the last letter could mean a wood type, i thought this one could have the same meaning...

CR5 on a Burner means Custom Red 5-string. The wood is maple on the Custom models under the finish.

And after more than a year, here it is! I got last week and it quickly become my main bass, so smooth... Completely fell in love with it! The first Smith product i own long time was a guitar polish... Now i own this baby! Major upgrade
Many thanks Ken Smith for your remarkable vision and heart you put on your instruments! |
