Bill Bolton is on a distinguished road
Default G'day from Sydney

In November 1994 I walked to American Music in Seattle, looking for 5 string fretless bass. I knew of Smith basses but at that time they were very rare birds indeed in Australia, so I had never had a chance to play one.

There was a KS CR5GF on the floor with a mahogany body.... I spent a couple of hours playing it before laying down ~$2000 and walking out the door with it.

About 6 years later a KS CR5M fretted bass came up on eBay in the US. It had a flame maple top and gold fittings - overall a much grander looking instrument than the CR5GF - and it looked sooooo good. I won the auction, and got the bass shipped to Ken to get the worn finish restored, then had it shipped on to me in Sydney.

The two Smith basses are my definite "go to" basses whenever I have anything difficult to perform. They both play wonderfully!

Cheers,

Bill
