Default Smith in metal demo

My band just released our first demo song called Edge Of Lunacy, recorded entirely in my basement.

For those of you who wanted to get an idea of how a fretless Smith sounds in a metal band, here ya go..

If you just want to listen on myspace it's on our myspace site too:

Just an update, we had to squash 3rd party sites linking directly to our songs so the links above will take you to our band's website instead of the files.. Just click on "The Music" and the downloads are available on that page, or you can listen in the browser using the java applet embedded in the page.

The version up now is also newer than when this was originally posted, but the changes were mainly the drums since we got a 4 channel audio interface since then and the old drums were recorded on a 2 channel sound card.

Just an update. Our full 4 song demo album has been released. All 4 songs are on the site and downloadable for free. 3 of them were recorded on my Smith; Edge Of Lunacy, There And Back Again, and My Pain..

Of those I think There And Back Again has the best bass tone example as the guitars are EQed much higher in that one which gives the bass a bit more room to cut through.

These are demos, and have a fair share of flubs still present in the mix, as well as some EQ issues.. 2 of them were literally recorded while we were still writing and learning the lines!

In the end we decided it was more important to get them released and start working on the albums and gigging again than to burn a bunch of extra time on the demo..
