Paul Brun : A New History Of The Double Bass
Has anyone read this book? Is it worth the money (£40)?

well..

There is another book by Planyavsky on a similar topic so not being there in person 300-450 years ago, it's best to read all of the opinions possible. |

Thans Ken, I'll have a look on the internet about Planyavsky and see what it comes up with.
Nello PS have you had a chance yet to look at the extra pictures of my bass I posted? |

I just finished the book. It's good stuff! In a couple of places, it did feel like he was overly biased or took on a too apologetic tone, but only rarely. I also felt that the English wasn't always top notch... I believe he also has a degree in English literature too, and maybe he thought he didn't need anyone to check his spelling..?
Anyways, there is a TON of information here. I think it calls for a re-read. |
