Default Another old bass to ID...

This bass has been passed from my father to me. He acquired it in the 1960's, from a local middle school he taught at. It had probably been there since the place opened in 1921.

It was in pieces when he got it. It was put back together somewhat poorly, played for many years, then finally sent off to Robertson and Sons for a complete rebuild around 2000 including new fingerboard and major work to the top to repair cracks.

There was a label, it has turned into dust. The guys at Robertson had no idea other than that it was probably an old workshop made bass or European origin. They did, though, try and buy it once it was finished. It is an amazing player with a great big sound. It is also weird in that it has an E-flat neck.

Any ideas on origin? Can anyone tell me anything? Thanks!

Edit: Sorry, the first three pics really suck. The last one is the most clear.

Outside linings...early 20c German? I'll leave it to the experts to get specific (or school me).
